Corporate website for a railway machinery test center

Client: IC VEIP

Description: IC VEIP is a test center that performs independent expert research of railway machinery and prepares technical documentation on troubleshooting and maintaining tracks, as well as setting movement speed.
The center had no web presence, but they recognized that with Internet exposure they could expand and strengthen their scientific potential.
After analyzing the possibilities and restrictions, NTR’s developers recommended a 1C—Bitrix-based website. The site is easy to manage, but more importantly, it serves as a venue for IC VEIP’s employees where they post and share their own articles on various scientific issues.
Another feature in development will present up up-to-date technical information for the professional community and enable discussion in a forum.

Corporate website for an organ installation company

Client: R.A. Daffer Church Organs, Inc.

Description: R.A. Daffer Church Organs provide a range of services around organ installation, which include removal of the existing organ, construction of pipe organ chests, delivery to the location and voicing.
They needed an inexpensive, easy-to-manage solution for their new website and NTR developers suggested Joomla content management system.
Along with building the site, we tutored the staff on how to update information, so they can edit, change or remove content quickly and easily.
Two sections of the site are of special interest to true organ music-lovers, the first presenting music samples to listen to online, and the second featuring the creation of an organ at the Rufatti Factory and Organ Rebuilding.

Game creation for a logistics company

Client: CityExpress

Description: CityExpress is a Moscow company providing courier and mail delivery services. Their goal was to increase repeat traffic and build community while simultaneously promoting their brand and creating buzz. They decided that a game built around CityExpress services would accomplish all four goals.

NTR presented several game ideas; the winning one having the user to play the role of mail sorter at CityExpress. This appealed to the client and we agreed on developing this Flash game for their entertainment portal CityExpression.ru.

Developed using Flash technology, the game is set in a storage facility where envelopes and parcels are falling from shelves and the player scores points by catching the falling items; it has three skill levels.

Website design with new features

Client: S.B. Smiths & Associates, Inc.

Description: S.B. Smiths & Associates, Inc is a company that designs and builds musical instruments. They required an easy-to-manage website, but wanted one that would show exactly how a musical instrument is made.

We chose Joomla content management system as the back end for its ease and convenience and a Flash-based slideshow of the process that creates a musical instrument masterpiece.

Integrating an existing website with a Joomla CMS

Creation of corporate website

Client: Design studio REALPRO

Description: Award-winning Russian design studio REALPRO is a brand management authority, with expertise ranging from brand consulting to graphic and TV design. It has won a Grand Prix and two Gold medals at the Moscow International Advertising Festival and numerous other awards. It is among the top five companies on the 2007 Creativity List. In October 2007, REALPRO became full member of the Pan-European Brand Design Association and set out to expand its operations to the western markets. To do this, REALPRO decided they needed a significantly more prominent presence on the web.

The highly competitive advertising industry demands original and innovative ideas that entrance their audience; this is especially true when the product you’re selling is creativity.

REALPRO’s designers conceived the site’s new look and essential functionality and chose NTR Lab to implement the new website. As a result of their previous collaboration with NTR, REALPRO knew we could implement their unconventional ideas and that our developers could help develop a detailed specification for the site.

The central concept is for visitors to see all non-textual website information—logos, design screenshots, news illustrations, etc.—in a format similar to a film strip with each ‘picture’ appearing in a viewing window when it is clicked. When the viewed picture is clicked it expands again to present additional information.

The concept required creative implementation of Flash technology.

Gay/lesbian community

Client: Rainbowfix.com

Description:
The initial website was developed by a different outsourcer and contained multiple bugs and malfunctioning features.

The client’s priority task was to clean up and improve the code, as well as implement the new functionality. To do this we

  • fixed bugs indicated by the client and others found by the NTR team;
  • converted database-related calls to an object-oriented wrapper resulting in a fluid, data-centered collection of classes;
  • increased protection to the system from SQL-injections;
  • introduced page caching with Memcached that speeded up page load time and reduced database load;
  • amended image storage structure, so that more files can be stored with substantially less stress to the server’s file system;
  • integrated Userplane webmessenger;
  • improved user’s session management;
  • added search-by-interest function;
  • improved “more like him/her” feature in the way that a CMS admin can manage the allowable variance of search parameters to broaden/narrow search results (matches);
  • added periodic recalculation of matches with email notifications and RSS updates.
