Cost-benefit analysis for a large state information system

Client: Finance department of a Moscow city government

Description: We developed a methodology for cost-benefit analysis of an automated budget process management system.

Our methodology includes:

  • cost/performance ratio indexes for the target information system;
  • approaches to choose the architecture of an information system;
  • assessment of the total cost of ownership of an information system;
  • creation of systematic preferences in technologies, processes, methods, suppliers, standards and legal conditions;
  • assessment of planned costs and values-at-risk (determined by the aggregate value of business risks, probability of technical risks and the relationship between them); and the
  • cost-benefit analysis of the system.

Sewing factory management system

Client: a Moscow sewing factory

Description: A business management system (BMS) that provides all users, executives through factory workers, with real-time data access of applicable company-wide functions.

Special challenges: A very tight budget and a client, with no BMS experience, unable to identify the scope of tasks to include in the project or provide viable project requirements information.

Working closely with all levels of management, NTR developers analyzed all existing business processes, in conjunction with company needs, and wrote the formal specifications for a comprehensive BMS that would

  • collect data from all departments in the company (finance, production, warehouse, etc., and all management levels);
  • solve remote-access challenges for buildings with no direct connection to the corporate office LAN; and then
  • apply the system from executive offices through factories.

The system has worked flawlessly since it went live in 2001.

Artificial Intelligence Technology for a Credit scoring system

Client: A large Moscow bank

Description: AI-based credit risk estimation, using an extended questionnaire and neural networks for cases when there is no credit history available.

Special challenge: Create an advanced, automated credit scoring technology for individuals with no previous credit history.

The system:

  • collects and stores client questionnaires and creates an audit trail of all interactions with them and their affiliates;
  • uses neural networks to analyze client information, determine credit risk, and provide a credit score; and
  • integrates with both the call center module and the bank’s core financial system.

The implemented system has all the features of a typical financial services high technology CRM.
